Use Case: Automation and Digitization in the Industrial and Mechanical Engineering Sector
For a mechanical engineering client, we successfully implemented the automation of key manufacturing and maintenance processes. After a comprehensive analysis of the existing production and maintenance workflows, both functional and non-functional requirements were collected and documented. We modeled the core processes end-to-end in BPMN 2.0, creating the foundation for structured process optimization.
A special focus was placed on the digitization of maintenance management: incoming repair or maintenance orders are automatically read using OCR, processed, and triggered directly in the SAP system. In parallel, if necessary, an automatic material reordering is initiated to ensure that required spare parts are available on time.
The technical implementation was carried out using modern RPA solutions and interface integration (e.g., SAP and REST API). Throughout the entire development phase, we supported the project in the agile Scrum team, conducted extensive testing, and centrally documented all technical components and test results via Jira and Confluence.
The project was completed with the implementation of a dashboard that allows transparent monitoring of all production and maintenance processes. The result: Significantly accelerated workflows, minimized error rates, and a noticeable reduction in employee workload – leading to greater efficiency and competitiveness in mechanical engineering.
